Management Development Centre Law Short Courses - Call for Applications
Management Development Centre (MDC) in conjunction with the Department of Economics and Law (DECL) both under the School of Business and Economic Science (SOBES) of the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) wish to invite eligible persons to register for any of the following courses lasting for 3 months (part-time) as follows:
- Industrial Relations Law: This course enables the participant to acquire knowledge of the law governing the employment relationships and the mechanisms for the resolution of disputes arising thereout.
- Competition Law: The course equips the participant with the skills to make a legal and economic assessment of trade restricting practices in mergers and acquisitions or consumer sales. The course also considers the role and powers of the CFTC-Commission and international free trade agreements relevant for Malawi.
- Financial Services Law: The course is intended to provide a broad overview of the principal laws which regulate financial services in Malawi. It includes a discussion of the role of the regulatory authorities in this area and of the ways in which the legislator tries to balance the need to give service providers enough flexibility in which to operate whilst providing enough protection to investors and adequate safeguards against abuse of the financial systems. The course further focuses on aspects of banking and other non-insurance financial services.
- Public International Law: This course equips the participant with an understanding of the functioning and operation of the international legal system and how that interacts with and affects domestic legal systems. The course will further focus on economic international law and discuss how trade treaties affect the national interests of Malawi.
Venue: MUBAS Main Campus, Blantyre
Start Date: 13th January, 2025
Closing Date: 18th May 2025
Classes: 4hrs per week (meeting twice)
Fees per participant: K180,000 per course (50% payable upon registration)
Final Award: Short Course Certificate
Minimum requirement: MSCE or equivalent and any higher qualification, good command of English. Those with experience will have an added advantage.
