Admission Criteria Requirements

To meet the continuing need for training in the field of technical education, the programme accepts students of diverse educational backgrounds. The potential candidates can join the programme at three different entry levels depending on their qualifications. There are three points of entry leading to the award of Bachelor of Science (Technical Education). Candidates to be admitted into the Bachelors of Science (Technical Education) programme should conform to the following criteria:

Normal Entry

  • Minimum of a verifiable Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent with a minimum of six credits including English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

Mature Entry

Mature entry applicants with MSCE or O-level with four credits including English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and either

  • Diploma in education or diploma in any technical related field and two years’ relevant work experience will be admitted in second year. Or Advanced Certificate in Technical field and has passed through a bridging programme. The students will audit the modules not covered in year one. or
  • Diploma in education and advance trade certificate in technical field and two years’ relevant work experience in related field will be admitted in third year and will audit modules not covered in year one and two. Or
  • Diploma in technical field and University Certificate of Education or T2 Teaching certificate and two years’ relevant work experience in related field will be admitted in third year and will audit modules not covered in year one and two.
