Position Overview

The position is tenable in the Internal Audit Department.  The Risk Officer shall report to the Head of Internal Audit.  He/ she will provide Enterprise Risk Management services.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the institution.
2. Implementing and monitoring risk management strategies/activities.
3. Monitoring compliance with internal control procedures, systems, statutory rules and regulations and follow up on compliance and audit issues that require investigation.
4. Facilitating the integration of risk management policies and strategies into all departments, strategies and activities.
5. Preparing appropriate information on risk and internal controls.
6. Identifying and assessing risks across the University.
7. Recommending appropriate interventions on risk.
8. Reviewing standard operating procedures.
9. Facilitating risk assessment workshops.
10. Evaluating and improving a service delivery framework for the identification, management and reporting if compliance risks and other risk related issues.
11. Operationalising risk and compliance assessment tools
12. Assessing the capacity and relevance of existing internal policies and procedures in mitigating risks.
13. Preparing and submitting reports.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Internal Auditing or other relevant qualifications
• Those with Risk Management Certifications will have an added advantage
• 3 years’ relevant experience in risk management.
