Law Short Courses - Call for Applications

Management Development Centre (MDC) in conjunction with the Department of Economics and Law (DEL) both under the School of Business and Economic Science (SOBES) of the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) wish to invite eligible persons to register for any of the following courses lasting for 4 months as follows:

Land Law

This module aims to enable students to acquire knowledge of property rights relating to real property as well as the rights and obligations of different parties to relationships concerning real property.

Corporate Governance

This module introduces students to principles of good corporate governance. Specifically, the module focuses on the role of shareholders and board of directors, codes of good corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. The module also introduces students to the concept of business ethics, an overview of major ethical issues that businesses face today, and a discussion of moral philosophy through an understanding of classical and contemporary ethical theories.

Law of Business Organizations

This module equips students with understanding of the law that regulates the formation, subsistence, and dissolution of various forms of business organization.

Private International Law

This module equips students with knowledge and understanding of the determination of jurisdiction, applicable law and recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards in international commercial litigation.

Human Rights Law

This module equips students with knowledge and understanding of the local, regional and international human rights systems, as well as the role of various institutions on the protection and enforcement of human rights.

Venue: MUBAS Main Campus, Blantyre

Duration: 24 November to 22 December, 2025; 4 January to March, 2026

Classes: 4hrs per week (meeting twice)

Fees per participant: K180,000 (50% payable upon registration)

Final Award: Certificate

Minimum requirement: MSCE or equivalent and any higher qualification, good command of English. Those with experience will have an added advantage.
