Department of Applied Education Public Lecture
The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) through the Department of Applied Education, in collaboration with Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TEVETA) have organized a Public Lecture, which will be delivered by Elwin Chiwembu Sichiola, TEVETA Executive Director.

Presenter's profile:
Elwin Chiwembu Sichiola is a business leader with expertise in TEVET Financing and Governance, organization capacity building, leadership, and financial management. With extensive experience in policy development, workforce transformation, and education systems strengthening, he has played a pivotal role in advancing human capital development initiatives in Malawi and beyond.
He currently serves as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the TEVET Authority (TEVETA) where he provides strategic leadership in skills development, quality assurance, and industry alignment of Malawi’s TEVET system. His work focuses on bridging the gap between education and Labour market demands, ensuring that training systems are responsive, inclusive, and future-oriented.
Elwin holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Derby (UK), a Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University (UK) and he is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM). Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Management at the University of Malawi.
Throughout his career, Elwin has actively contributed to national and regional discourse on education reform, workforce readiness, and sustainable development. He is deeply passionate about empowering young people through skills development, fostering innovation, and promoting lifelong learning as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation.
Recognised for his strategic insight and results-driven leadership, Elwin is committed to shaping resilient education systems that support industrial growth, entrepreneurship, and inclusive development.
Looking ahead, he envisions playing an influential role at the continental level driving policy and practice that transform TVET systems across Africa and positioning skills development as a cornerstone of sustainable economic growth.
