Law Short Courses - Call for Applications
Management Development Centre (MDC) in conjunction with the Department of Economics and Law (DEL) both under the School of Business and Economic Science (SOBES) of the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) wish to invite eligible persons to register for any of the following courses lasting for 4 months as follows:Land LawThis module aims to enable students to acquire knowledge of property rights relating to real property as well as the rights and obligations of different parties to relationships concerning real property.Corporate Governance This module introduces students to principles of good corporate governance. Specifically, the module focuses on the role of shareholders and board of directors, codes of good corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. The module also introduces students to the concept of business ethics, an overview of major ethical issues that businesses face today, and a discussion of moral philosophy through an understanding of classical and contemporary ethical theories.Law of Business OrganizationsThis module equips students with understanding of the law that regulates the formation, subsistence, and dissolution of various forms of business organization. Private International LawThis module equips students with knowledge and understanding of the determination of jurisdiction, applicable law and recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards in international commercial litigation.Human Rights Law This module equips students with knowledge and understanding of the local, regional and international human rights systems, as well as the role of various institutions on the protection and enforcement of human rights.Venue: MUBAS Main Campus, BlantyreDuration: 24 November to 22 December, 2025; 4 January to March, 2026Classes: 4hrs per week (meeting twice)Fees per participant: K180,000 (50% payable upon registration)Final Award: Certificate Minimum requirement: MSCE or equivalent and any higher qualification, good command of English. Bachelor of Laws (Honours) 2025/2026 Intake - Call for Applications
The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences through the School of Business and Economic Sciences invites applications for admission into the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) for the 2025-2026 academic year. To qualify for admission, the candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria: 1. Minimum Academic Entry RequirementsUpon application, candidates must pass an aptitude test set by the University and have six credits including English at MSCE or its equivalent and must have either of the following: 2. Specific programme requirements Completed his/her first year of university (Completing 120 credits) at an accredited public or private institution with a grade point average of at least 3.0 or its equivalent on the 101-grade point scale. Students who have not yet completed the entry requirements at the time of application, but expect to meet them by the time of selection, can apply by indicating previous results (e.g. end of semester 1 grades). However, final admission will depend on meeting the minimum admission requirement. Advanced level (A-level) certificate in any subject combination having satisfied the general university entry requirement of at least three principal passes with a minimum of two B’s and one C obtained at one sitting.
