Library Services
1. Book Loans
All students and faculty members are entitled to borrow information resources from the Library. Members must complete a Library Membership Form before borrowing any item. Access and borrowing privileges are not transferable; it is not allowed to use another person's ID or login credentials. Borrowing is regulated by the MUBAS Library Rules and Regulations.
2. Information Literacy (IL)
The Library conducts periodic Information Literacy sessions targeting undergraduate, postgraduate students, and staff members.
Topics covered include:
- Academic search techniques (e-databases, Boolean operators, etc.) ,
- How to use OPAC , Research integrity ,
- Plagiarism and Turnitin training ,
- Citation and referencing (including Mendeley/Zotero) ,
- Ethical use of generative AI.
3. Research Support
To foster a research culture , the Library provides credible scholarly resources and undertakes activities such as: Training in Research integrity (Predatory publishing, Plagiarism & Turnitin) , Training in new research related technologies , Consultations on how to select credible journals , Vetting journal titles before University payment of APCs , Theses and Dissertations Review.
4. Collaborative Learning Space
A dedicated space within the Library created to maximize student engagement through group work, discussions, shared goals, and critical thinking skills.
5. ID Processing
The Library processes and produces staff and student Identification Cards (IDs) in liaison with the Registry Services Department. The ID processing fee for 2025 is MK10,000.00.
6. Reprographic Services and Bindery
The Bindery Section repairs, conserves, and preserves library resources to ensure their continued value in teaching, learning, and research.
