Spatial Statistics in Research Short Courses
WASHTED with support from Sanitation and Hygiene Applied Research for Equity (SHARE) is pleased to invite managers, project officers and researchers from international and local non-governmental organizations, research institutions, foundations, government departments and private organizations from around the country, as well as trained M&E professionals to participate in our training program on use of RS and GIS in research and planning.
Apart from the basics of map making, ggeographic information systems and remote sensing are powerful tools in identifying “hot-spots” or “red flag” areas necessary for prioritizing efforts. GIS can also facilitate sharing of spatial data in different fields including health, development, natural sciences, etc.
Requirements
Participants will be required to pay for their own accommodation and transport to and from The Polytechnic in Blantyre. The cost of each course is MK220, 000.00 per participant, however, those interested to attend will be required to pay only MK40, 000.00 per course to cover for teas and lunch during the training as the other cost will be covered by The SHARE project at WASHTED.
To apply for the course, please write to mnthara@poly.ac.mw with a copy to skumwenda@poly.ac.mw. You will be notified within a week if your application to attend the course has been accepted. The application letter should contain your current position, the organization you are working with and one short paragraph on why you want to attend. The application letter should be one page long. Payment will secure your attendance on the course.
The training will be conducted in WASHTED room 34 at The Polytechnic. Those who will complete each course will receive a certificate of completion.
