Students Accommodation
The University has two systems of student accommodation; campus accommodation (on - and off campus) and private owned accommodation. Allocation of institution accommodation is done through an automated system. Students who have not been offered campus accommodation are expected to find their own accommodation from the private service providers around the university and within the vicinity of Blantyre City.
University Hostels
The university accommodation is available at a minimal cost per bed. There are also conditions on the offer as contained in the Student Tenancy Agreement which every student has to sign for before occupation. Every student is supposed to be accommodated on campus for a maximum of one years only during his/her stay at the University. This accords an opportunity for other students not accommodated before to have a chance of using the University accommodation.
Students are supposed to apply for accommodation at the end of each academic year where applications are scrutinized and the eligible are selected.
There are only five hostels on campus for both male and female students. Nyika , Mpingwe and Ndirande A are allocated to the male students whilst Female students are housed in Hyrid, Kapeni and Ndirande B hostels.
The University Off campus hostels at Chichiri and the Poly Alley mostly accommodates first year male and female students.
Private Hostels
There are a number of private accommodations of varying quality. The procedure of accessing such accommodation facilities is a preserver of the owners of the facilities. There is a very cordial working relationship between the owners and the Officer of Director of students. The map below showcases some of the privately owned accommodations for students around Blantyre.
