2020 ENGINEERING SYMPOSIUM

PRESS RELEASE

Engineering symposium is an event where a platform is laid for final year engineering students who are j about to graduate meet face to face with professionals of the field who are in industry. It happens every year and this year it will take place on March 6th 2020 at the Amalyris Hotels in Blantyre.

 Apart from interfacing the final year students with industry professionals, the event seeks to create an awareness of engineering profession hence the event will be aired throughout the media houses. It also aims at encouraging the industry professionals to appreciate young bright minds by showcasing innovations from the three departments which may impact the society and the nation at large if implemented and marketed.

The theme for this year is “Environmentally Sustainable Engineering Solutions Through Modern Technological Advancement.” It targets applying latest technology to ease and improve lives of people while making sure the environment is safe today and reduce future hazards which may follow as a result of use of technology. Some of the innovations are modern water treatment of water for local people, domestic wind-sun tracking solar power generation and others.

The event is mainly organized by students supervised by a patron who usually represents the Faculty of Engineering by giving advice and guidance in the organization of the event. The patron for this year is Dr Witness Kuotcha from Civil engineering department. All 120 final year students under the Faculty of Engineering are expected to attend. The faculty has three departments; mechanical, electrical and civil.
