Mnduwira Brothers Have Done It Again!

The Malawi Polytechnic’s third year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student Madalitso Mnduwira together with his brother Cliff, have received another award for a project called Vocal Hospital.

The duo showcased this project at the 2020 Information Communication Technology Association of Malawi (ICTAM) event.

The awarding ceremony took place at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi, from December 11 to 12, 2020.

Vocal Hospital project, that falls under the Artificial Intelligence category, Internet of Things (IoT) is a product they are developing that will simplify the Corona Virus Disease (COVID19) testing.

The award was presented to the Mnduwira brothers by the Minister of Information, Gospel Kazako.

According to Madalitso, Vocal hospital allows people to test for COVID19 by simply calling the vocal hospital number, follow the given steps and instantly get an SMS of the test results.

“The system is a utilizing speech analysis technology that is able to analyze the given voice samples. The problem we are trying to solve with this product is mainly the scarcity of COVID19 testing equipment in Malawi,’’Mnduwira said.

They have been promised to receive MK1Million at a later event from ICTAM.

In 2019 the duo also won an annual (ICTAM) innovation award of the best Internet of Things (IoT) Smart Farmer application in the category of Smart Agriculture.
