Master of Philosophy in Civil Engineering

The MPhil in Civil Engineering is a research-focused postgraduate program that provides advanced training in the analysis, design, and management of civil engineering projects. The program emphasizes independent research, critical thinking, and problem-solving in areas such as structural, geotechnical, transportation, and environmental engineering. It prepares graduates for further doctoral studies or professional research and leadership roles in engineering and infrastructure development.

Admission Criteria

Applicants must have any of the following engineering-related qualifications:

a. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a minimum of a credit in a relevant field.

b. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a strong pass and two years’ work experience in a relevant field.

c. An Honours degree from an accredited university with a minimum of second class in a relevant field.

d. An Honours degree from an accredited university with a third class and one-year work experience in a relevant field.

Duration and Tuition Fees

This a two and a half year program comprising five semesters. Tuition fees for students from Malawi and other SADC countries are US$1,100.00 per semester.
