Law

The Economics and Law Department is the country’s newest law school offering a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree programme (LLB programme). Being part of the School of Business and Economic Sciences, the LLB programme is designed to produce lawyers fully equipped to provide relevant and high-quality expertise in all areas of commerce covering areas as diverse as financial services law, insolvency law, competition law, revenue law, etc.

The Bachelor programme sets itself apart from traditional LLB programmes by taking a highly international and comparative-orientation in its approach where areas such as public international law, private international law, arbitration and international trade law are offered as mandatory modules. The uniqueness of the LLB programme is affirmed by inclusion in its curriculum of non-legal courses to equip students with the necessary managerial and decision-making skills such as management and organizational behaviour, business economics, accounting, and entrepreneurship.

Through the Management Development Centre we open some modules as short courses to the wider public and can provide tailor-made law training to organizations.

How to Become a Law Student

Admission to LLB programme requires candidates to have a GPA of 3.0 for their year one university studies of their bachelors degree programme, or A-Levels with a score of BBC or better, or a level-6 diploma with credit, or a Bachelors Degree in addition to a MSCE with six credits including credit in English.
