Opening Of Semester 2 FOR 2020/2021 Academic Year

Management would like to welcome you all as you return to the University to continue with your studies for the second semester for the 2020/2021 academic year. Management is requesting you all to take note of the following important information:

1. REGISTRATION

All students are expected to register for the 2nd Semester through SMIS. Registration period is strictly for 2 weeks from 14th to 27th June 2021. You can access SMIS anywhere on campus or outside campus. You can also use the following computer laboratories to register;

  • CIT 1 and 2 Computer labs,
  • Glasgow Computer lab,
  • Room E102 (School of Engineering),
  • Room C01 (Civil Engineering Department),
  • T6 Computer lab (Mechanical Engineering Department).

a. LATE REGISTRATION

Students who will register later than 27th June 2021 will pay late registration fee of MK20,000.00 per day. Registration is online and therefore NO STUDENT shall be expected to miss classes on assumption of attending to registration issues during class periods.

Only students who have paid the required semester fees and have no outstanding fees balances from semester one will be allowed to register for the second semester.University shall enforce the “No fees, No registration” Policy. You are therefore reminded to take the registration process very seriously.

2. STUDENTS REPEATING MODULES

Students who are repeating second semester modules are being advised to report to the Assistant Registrar (Academic) before their registration so that you verify the modules you are expected to repeat. As per rules and regulations such students are required to pay the semester fees.

3. PAYMENT OF FEES

All fees payments should be made at the bank using your student assigned bank account available in SMIS. Proof of payment should be submitted to the cash office with all your details indicated on the receipt which should include your name, programme of study and year of study. The University does not accept cash or postdated cheque payments.

5. CLASS TIMETABLE

The teaching time table for the second semester can be accessed through the following link: 41.70.48.214. You are therefore expected to attend all scheduled classes.

4. ACCESSING END OF FIRST SEMESTER RESULTS

The College Assessment Committee will meet on 7th July 2021 to consider first semester grades. Students are encouraged to access their approved semester one grades through their SMIS account, under assessments. Hard copies of exam results notification letters will also be available for collection from Registry office. A time table will be developed for collection of the same.
