First Annual School of Engineering Conference
Road to 2063 - Unlocking development through engineering and innovations
The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) has among strategic pillars the advancement of conduct of intense research and consultancies that impact both the local and global village. The Malawi 2063 which is drawn from SDGs aims to achieve Agricultural Productivity and Commercialization, Industrialization and Urbanization in a sustainable manner.
The School of Engineering is one vehicle that MUBAS is using to unlock opportunities to deliver Malawi 2063 by having annual conferences on engineering research and consultancy outputs. It is therefore expected that the diverse engineering field practitioners will own and patronize these conferences as one way of remaining relevant to the country development and the profession.
Abstracts Submission
- Abstracts of potential papers may be submitted in all program topics.
- Abstracts should not be more than 250 words.
- All abstracts and papers should be on standard A4 papers, 1.5 spaced, all margins should be 2.5 cm, and font must be 12 point and Times New Roman.
- Sample paper for authors is available here.
- The abstract must be submitted by email to soe-conference@mubas.ac.mw
Note to Authors
The School of Engineering Annual Conference does not provide any financial support to contributing authors. Benefits from participation include the privilege of presenting papers at the conference and publication of the papers in the Conference Proceedings for worldwide distribution.
Oral Presentations & Posters
- Oral Presentations: Each author is allowed 20 minutes, including 5 minutes Q&A.
- Poster presentations: Authors whose papers are selected for a poster presentation, shall present the paper on A1 paper as PDF file printout.
Conference Proceedings
The proceedings of the SoE-2023 will be published online after the conference.

- Deadline for submission of Abstracts: February 22, 2024,
- Notification of acceptance of Abstracts: February 27, 2024
- Deadline for submission of Full Papers: March 31, 2024
- Conference dates: May 9 to 10, 2024
