The training, held at the MUBAS Main Campus in Blantyre, aims to strengthen the capacity, competitiveness, and sustainability of MSMEs involved in the production and processing of innovative and eco-friendly building materials. The initiative is also designed to equip entrepreneurs with essential business development skills to enhance enterprise growth.
Speaking during the meeting, Business Incubation Centre Manager Chisomo Taulo M’baya said the program is intended to build resilient and environmentally responsible enterprises.
“The main objective of this training is to capacitate MSME’s in sustainable building materials so that they can improve their businesses and remain competitive. Through this project, we also want entrepreneurs to understand how they can integrate climate change initiatives into their business operations,” said Mbaya.
She urged the participants to make full use of the opportunity and apply the skills acquired to grow their enterprises.
One of the beneficiaries, Alfred Phiri, an entrepreneur specializing in soil-stabilized block production, said the training is expected to help him address key challenges in his business.
“I enrolled this programme to learn how best I can reach out to potential clients and explore ways of improving my product. I have also been struggling with keeping proper financial records, and I believe this training will equip me with the necessary skills,” said Phiri.
A total of 31 participants will receive training in various areas, such as sustainable building materials, financial management and market development, among others. The MUBAS Business Incubation Centre aims to empower youth with professional entrepreneurship skills, regardless of their educational background, to support sustainable business development and job creation.
