Master of Science in Environmental Health - DAAD Scholarship Announcement (2026 Cohort)
The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), School of Science and Technology, is inviting applications for the Master of Science in Environmental Health Programme, which will commence in September 2026. The programme offers limited scholarships, provided by DAAD, for both national and international applicants. As part of the In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme, DAAD provides scholarships for master’s studies. The German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) funds the programme. It primarily aims at university staff, without neglecting the public sector’s need for academically trained personnel.
Programme Overview
The programme is divided into two parts: coursework and dissertation. The coursework comprises ten core modules: Epidemiology and Biostatistics; Environmental Pollution Control; Food Safety and Hygiene; Health Communication and Behaviour Change; Global Health; Occupational Safety and Health; Health Project Management; Water, Sanitation and Hygiene; and Geographical Information Systems in Environmental Health Practice. To graduate with an MSc, students must undertake a research project culminating in the production of a dissertation. The recommended duration of the programme is four semesters (two years) full-time.
Admission Requirements:
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree with above-average results (a Credit, Distinction or GPA of 2.5 and above or equivalent) obtained from any recognised institution of higher learning in Environmental Health, Public Health or any other related field not more than six years ago. Female and underprivileged applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.
