Speaking during the launch, MUBAS Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Ishmael Kossam remembered Mang'anda as a champion of professional excellence and a dedicated mentor who played a significant role in nurturing young media practitioners.

“Mang'anda provided guidance to young practitioners and strove for professional excellence throughout his long career. He introduced them to critical media platforms,” Kossam said.

He added that the publication will preserve and transfer invaluable industry insights across generations, helping to strengthen and transform contemporary journalism practice.

Thom Khanje, Chairperson of the book launch committee, described Mang'anda's career as a compelling example of the importance of safeguarding press freedom. He highlighted Mang'anda's pioneering contributions to the media industry, including his central role in establishing journalism academic programmes at MUBAS and the Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ).

Khanje also noted Mang'anda's contribution to the establishment of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi and the Media Council of Malawi (MCM).

Gazette Media Lead Consultant Macdonald Chapalapata said sponsoring the book was important in ensuring that future generations of reporters could learn from Mang'anda's experiences, particularly how he successfully navigated the structural and professional challenges of the journalism profession.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the late media icon's daughter, Mwai Mang'anda Nyasulu, expressed gratitude for the recognition of her father's contribution to Malawi's media landscape. She said the family was delighted that his legacy and experiences would continue to inspire and educate future generations of journalists.
