In a significant step toward fostering collaboration and enriching educational experiences, the Department of Public and Environmental Health Sciences (PEHS) at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with World Vision. The signing ceremony took place on September 23, 2022, and marks a pivotal moment for both institutions.

Under this MOU, MUBAS students pursuing health-related fields will have the opportunity to participate in attachments facilitated by World Vision. These attachments will provide invaluable hands-on experience, allowing students to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. World Vision’s expertise in community health and development will serve as a valuable resource for students seeking practical exposure.

Notably, the MOU extends beyond student attachments. Final-year students will be deployed to World Vision projects, gaining insights into community-based health initiatives. Moreover, MUBAS PEHS lecturers will have the chance to participate in externships with World Vision. These externships will allow lecturers to engage directly with fieldwork, research, and program implementation, enriching their teaching and research endeavors.

Both MUBAS and World Vision share a commitment to advancing health and well-being, especially in vulnerable communities. By collaborating through this MOU, they aim to:

Promote Practical Learning: Students will benefit from exposure to real-world challenges, community engagement, and evidence-based practices.

Strengthen Research and Implementation: Lecturers and staff will contribute to research efforts and gain insights into effective health interventions.

Empower Future Leaders: Through these opportunities, MUBAS students and lecturers will be better equipped to address health disparities and contribute to sustainable development.

The signing of this MOU represents a significant stride toward bridging academia and practical health solutions. As Malawi continues its journey toward improved health outcomes, this partnership between MUBAS and World Vision promises to make a lasting impact.
