Dr. Gertrude Cynthia Sitolo is the Director of Student Affairs at MUBAS. In this role, she oversees the development and implementation of student support services, ensuring that learners are provided with an environment that promotes holistic growth, academic success, and personal well-being. Her leadership focuses on fostering a vibrant campus life and maintaining strong support systems that empower students to thrive both academically and socially.


Dr. Sitolo holds a Bachelor's degree in Food Technology from the University of Malawi – The Polytechnic, a Master of Science in Food Science from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and a PhD in Food Science and Nutrition, specialising in Food Functional Science from Hiroshima University, Japan. Her academic background reflects a solid foundation in food quality, safety, and nutrition — areas that also inform her research interests.


Her research contributions center on food quality, safety, and nutrition, and she has authored several scholarly publications in these fields. Notably, she has collaborated with international researchers to advance knowledge on food processing and safety standards.


Dr. Sitolo has also undergone extensive international training and participated in various professional exchanges that have strengthened her expertise in academic leadership and student development. Her vision for MUBAS is to create an enabling environment that fosters students’ holistic development, academic excellence, and social responsibility — aligning with the university’s mission to nurture well-rounded graduates prepared to lead and innovate in society.
